I was so energized by this post. I think you've nailed it exactly. The other day I was configuring an agent to run a bunch of my tasks, and once I got into a rhythm where I felt like it was actually doing stuff, I just stood up and went to wash the dishes and do my laundry. It was so funny, like, I just used this insane technology so I can go back to atoms.

I also think you're right that strong coordination is exhausting in its own way. From personal experience, the managerial overhead of overseeing all these agents gets intense. Not hard exactly, but it does require what you said: vision, principle, guardrails, a clear sense of what you're actually optimizing for.

Completely agree that reading and the humanities are more alive than ever for exactly this reason. Thanks for writing this, you're making me want to re-engage with the AI question seriously again!
